2020 Genesis G70 vs 2020 Genesis G80

Serving Troy, MI

Genesis is one of the newer luxury brands available to consumers, and it is quickly becoming the preferred brand. When many of our customers at Genesis of Troy drop by for a closer look at the most recent additions to our inventory, they want to know what the differences are between the G70 and the G80. The 2020 Genesis G70 is a compact executive car that effuses class. The G80 is an executive sedan, so it is slightly larger than the G70. Size is only one of several differences that you should be aware of when you are trying to decide between these two beautiful models.

The 2020 G70 has a stunning exterior design that hints at powerful forward motion, and it has the machinery under the hood to live up to its appearance. The primary powertrain is a 4-cylinder GDI, a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that generates up to 252 horsepower. If you crave more power, you can upgrade to a V6 GDI, 3.3-liter twin-turbo engine that boosts you up to 60 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds. The latter powertrain provides you with 365 horsepower.

In comparison, the 2020 Genesis G80 sedan is outfitted with a V6 engine that produces 311 horsepower as standard equipment. The top trim level available for the current model year is a V8 engine that generates 420 horsepower. Keep in mind that the price difference between the base MSRP of these two vehicles is approximately $7,000.

The G70 is a force to be reckoned with on the road. It has the elegant profile and flow of a sophisticated sedan, and this is combined with gorgeous sculpting across the hood and sides. The mesh-style grille has a dominant presence on the front end, and it is paired with sporty LED headlights and sharp air vents to dress up the front fascia. The G80 is strikingly similar at first glance, but a closer look reveals that it has a different appearance across most surfaces. The grille has the same shape as the G70’s grille, but it is more extensive. The shape and size of the LED headlights, lower fascia, and air vents are also different. The look of the G80’s front end is more robust and statelier than that of the G70’s front end. The G80’s sides and hood have a smoother finish, and the profile has aerodynamic flow.

The 2020 Genesis G80 is a step up from the G70 in the lineup, so it comes with more standard features across all trims. However, both of these vehicles are well-appointed with luxurious materials and high-end features that promise to elevate your time on the road. Regardless of the sedan that you take home, you can expect your new Genesis to have leather trim, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel with several accessible controls, smartphone app integration, USB ports, a heads-up display, a navigation system, and many other desirable items.
