2021 Genesis GV80 vs 2020 Volvo XC90

Serving Troy, MI

The 2021 GV80 is the first SUV produced by Genesis, and it carries all of the luxury and prestige that other Genesis vehicles are known for. This large SUV can be compared to the 2020 Volvo XC90, a second-generation luxury crossover SUV. With comparable base prices and bold appeal, you need to explore these popular models at a deeper level to find the perfect luxury SUV for your next purchase.

As an all-new model, the 2021 Genesis GV80 has standout styling that easily garners envy from other drivers. The stunning, defined curvature that starts at the front and flows over the hood continues without interruption across the side doors. Below this definition, the doors are elegantly contoured and have a solid personality line running deeply through their lower region. At the front, the diamond-like grille pattern's sophistication is set off by the horizontal bars in the stacked LED headlights. This horizontal theme continues on the lower fascia sides and on the air vents by the front fenders. The 2020 Volvo XC90's style has a comparable definition throughout the hood and sides, but its definition is solidly linear. The front end carries Volvo's classic grille as well as T-shaped headlights. Both of these SUVs may have a panoramic moonroof, hands-free liftgate access, and other preferred features.

The ingenuity of the 2021 Genesis GV80 expands into its interior design. The premium leather material has quilted and contrast stitching across the seats and other interior surfaces. Both front and rear rows have heat, ventilation, and powered adjustments. The center console angles upward as it meets the dashboard. It holds dual rotary knobs for the gear shifter and drive mode selection. A control pad in the center console also delivers access to the floating display screen. Uniquely, the console holds the interface and controls for the climate management system. In the Volvo XC90, the center console has a traditional style with the gear shifter, beverage holders, and a few drive mode selections. The climate management features are accessible at the bottom of the center stack. The infotainment system's screen and two air vents are wrapped together by a cross-shaped metal accent piece.

The GV80 for 2021 receives power from two possible powertrains. The premium engine is a twin-turbo V6, 3.5-liter engine connected to eight-speed auto transmission, and it produces 375 horsepower. The 2020 Volvo XC90 is also available with a couple of powertrains, and the strongest engine produces 316 horsepower. Both of these large crossover SUVs have all-wheel drive equipment as an option in select trim levels.
